General Announcements

Junior class officer forms are available in your English 10 classes. Any interested candidate must
have their form completed and turned in to Mrs. Nupp by next Wednesday, April 3.

Any junior or seniors not currently in an English class that would like to vote for Prom Court, please stop in the front office to vote by the end of the school day on Wednesday, March 27.

HOSA WEEK SPIRIT DAYS:
Tuesday, 3/26 – Red in honor of the blood drive
Wednesday, 3/27 – Orange in honor of pediatric cancer
Thursday, 3/28 – Green in honor of lymphoma cancer
Friday, 3/29 – Blue in honor of stomach cancer

Out of school guest applications for Prom are now available in the front office.

Northwestern High School will have Parent-Teacher conferences on Thursday, March 28 from 4:30 – 8:00pm.  No appointment is necessary for conferences. Parents are encouraged to attend.

Announcement delivery for the WCSCC will be on March 26th.

For the remainder of the school year, students with 3 or more missing assignments will not be permitted to purchase drinks OR donuts from the cafe. 

Do you like to sing, dance, or act? The Wayne County Performing Arts Council is looking for
talented youth ages 8-18 for their summer musical production of “Disney's The Lion King,
Jr."! Stop by the office and pick up a flier for audition information.

HOSA Blood drive will be held today, 3/26 in the gym from 8am – 1:30pm.  

Public Service Reminder:  Any student that has something stolen from you must report to the office immediately.  Also, if you have a lock that does not work, please report to office.  

Any student who will be driving to school this year will need to stop in at the front office and pick up a parking application. A new parking permit is needed for each school year. Parking permits are to be hung from the rear view mirror in your vehicle.

Student Services Announcements

The Weltmer Family Academic Gift application is now available on Naviance.

MEDCAMP is designed to provide “hands-on” experiences in bio-medical science workshops involving research, clinical problem-solving and an introduction to the fields of clinical medicine.
Applicants must be 18 years old by the day of MEDCANP, graduated high school, must be enrolled at a college or university entering their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year of undergraduate education, and have a GPA of 3.0 or greater.  This camp runs from July 11-13, 2019 with registration beginning at 12:00 noon.  The cost for this experience is $150 for this unique opportunity. Applications may be found on their website at neomed.edu/medcamp.

The Ruritan Scholarship is now available in the student services office or you may find it on Naviance.  The deadline for this scholarship is April 22, 2019.

Employment opportunities for any students that are not sure of their future after graduation. Seaman Corporation manufactures a chemically coated fabric that our end user then uses for things like truck tarps, pond liners, roofing membranes etc. They have benefits that start on Day 1 that include vision/dental and after 30 days of employment they have a 401K. If there are any students who might want to take some time off before going to college, after a year of employment, they will help pay for college. Starting pay is $14.00/hr and have 2nd and 3rd shifts available. Those shifts also receive a $0.75/hr shift differential. They do require candidates to be 18 years of age and be able to pass a background and drug test. Athletic Announcements/Events

Cheerleading tryouts for NHS football and competitive cheer team will be in early May.  Please sign up in the office for more information.  Basketball cheer tryouts will be held in the fall of 2019.

There are spring/summer volleyball schedules available for pick up in the front office for all volleyball players.

The All-Sports Scholarship and Todd Boatner Scholarships are now available for pick up in the front office.  You must have participated in sports for all four years of high school, earned at least one varsity letter, and have been accepted at an institution of higher learning.  Deadline is April 12, 2019.

Northwestern Summer Youth Baseball registration packets are available in the front office.   Last day to register is Monday, April 1st.
