The first academic challenge team practice this year will be from 2:30-3:15 in B. Martin's room this Thursday, 10/24.
Now accepting applications for our Husky Buddies mentoring program. Any high school students interested in applying to be a mentor for an elementary student should complete the application by Tuesday, October 29. Please check your email for more information on the program and the application link. If you have any questions about the program or need the application link, please see Mrs. Beun.
The Husky Marching Band and Cheerleaders will host their first ever indoor show on Thursday, October 24 at 7:00pm in the high school auditorium. Come enjoy a fun evening featuring all your favorite tunes and cheers from this year’s fall season. This performance is free and open to the public.

It’s getting to be that time of year, where we once again welcome Northwestern students and community members to enjoy the Snow Trails 20% off discount that is available to them through the Bad Dog Boarders & Skiers Club. To receive the discount, make sure to purchase your ski pass before December 1st . Forms with purchase instructions are in the office. See Mr. or Mrs. Michalak for more info.
Any student that filled out parking permit application on Final Forms and didn’t receive one yet, please stop in at the front office and get your hang tag. Parking tags are to be kept in your vehicle.

Student Services Announcements
On Thursday November 14th at 9:15 Rebecca Hillman from Findlay will be here to hold a CCP Informational Meeting for next year. This meeting is for juniors/sophomores that are currently taking CCP classes or students who plan on taking CCP classes next year. You must sign up in the Student Services office to attend the meeting. This meeting is for students only, there will be a separate parent meeting at a later date. If you plan on participating in CCP next year you must attend at least one informational meeting.
Attention Seniors: The University of Akron has expanded its generous
Making Akron Affordable (MAP) Grant to include even more families! Now, students whose family’s adjusted gross income (AGI) is $85,000 or less will automatically receive the MAP Grant, which covers full tuition and the general fee.
To be considered for this grant follow these steps:
- Apply to The University of Akron
- Submit the FAFSA with UA’s school code: 003123 (The FAFSA is expected to be available in December.)
The MAP Grant award will be automatically applied to eligible students’ accounts.
College Bound Seniors- early decision deadlines are approaching , if you need help getting started on applications or completing applications please stop by student services. Remember to let your teachers know if you requested a recommendation through Common App or Naviance.
Northwestern High School will be offering two group college visits this fall. On November 5, there will be a visit to Ashland University and on November 18, there will be a visit to the University of Akron. Any students interested in attending either or both of these field trips should stop by the student services office to pick up a permission slip. All students wanting to attend must have their permission slips in by Thursday, October 24. Numbers are limited, so get your permission slips now. Priority will be given to any juniors or seniors who plan to attend. |
Athletic Announcements
There will be basketball cheerleading practices October 21st and 22nd. Anyone interested in trying out must attend the Winter Sports Meeting on October 23rd. Final tryouts will be Monday October 28th and Tuesday October 29th. Please contact Coach Moore with any questions.
The OHSAA Winter sports meeting will be Wednesday, October 23 at 6:00pm in the HS auditorium. Individual sports meetings will follow at 6:30. This is mandatory for all winter athletes and their parents. If you attended the Fall meeting, you only need to come to the individual sport meeting.
Any girls interested in wrestling this upcoming season, please sign-up in the office.
