Northwestern Local Schools is a rural public school district located near West Salem in northwestern Wayne County, Ohio. Established in 1951 through the consolidation of the Chester Township, Congress, and West Salem school districts, Northwestern operates a centralized campus along North Elyria Road. The campus includes Northwestern Elementary School, Northwestern Middle School, Northwestern High School, district administrative offices, transportation and maintenance facilities, and a variety of athletic and extracurricular spaces. The centralized campus allows the district to coordinate transportation, staffing, food service, maintenance, athletics, and educational programming while serving students from preschool through grade 12.
