Low cost Internet Access

There are new low cost internet programs available for families on reduced income.

The full list of eligible programs at https://www.affordableconnectivity.gov/do-i-qualify/. A household needs to only meet one of the criteria to qualify. Qualifying through participation in other federal programs (SNAP, Medicaid, etc.) typically does not require additional proof since the systems are tied together. Other ways to qualify most likely require the applicant to submit additional information to show proof of participation.

Please note that it is one benefit per HOUSEHOLD. For example, a household that qualifies based on income and is enrolled in SNAP does not receive two $30 monthly benefits. They only receive one $30 monthly benefit.

Regarding free/reduced school lunch and breakfast programs:

  1. Children are eligible if they have been approved to receive school lunch benefits under the free/reduced price lunch program under the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act, or the school breakfast program under section 4 of the Child Nutrition Act of 1965.
  2. This includes ALL households with students enrolled in a school district where all students receive free breakfast/lunch, regardless of need through the USDA’s Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). To receive the benefit, a student must be enrolled in the CEP school district for the current school year. Applicants will be required to provide proof that the student is enrolled in the district. There is more detailed information about proof requirements at https://www.affordableconnectivity.gov/how-to-apply/show-you-qualify/.
