The Northwestern Local Education Association is sponsoring the Leo D. Welty Memorial Scholarship. This is an annual scholarship in memory of Leo D. Welty, a former teacher, principal, and the first superintendent of the Northwestern Local School District. Additional funds were made in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Keener, former school board member and teacher, and also in memory of lifetime resident, Mr. Charles Myers. Donations have also been received from community residents.
