As of 8-19-2016 we are $44,618.14 towards the $55,000 of contributions needed for this project. The Northwestern Board of Education will fund the other 50% of the cost. We still need to raise $10,381.86 more by September to make this Northwestern Greenhouse/Clean Energy Lab a reality!

Northwestern is in the process of constructing a 30ft X 100ft greenhouse (anticipated cost of $110,000) primarily for use by our Agricultural Science Dept. However, it will also be utilized for entrepreneurship classes, as well as our Clean-Renewable Energy classes and Science Teachers in general. It will also be made available for schools involved with professional development as provided through our recently awarded “Straight A Fund” Consortium Grant.

Plans include: automatic vents, watering system, benches and hanging plant spaces, hydroponics system, Clean Energy powered through geothermal HVAC, wind turbine, solar array, and include a biodiesel plant. The energy components are being funded by the “straight A Fund Grant separately upon greenhouse completion.
